Remo at CARGO London SUMMER 2010
Cargo had a real treat this summer with this piece being painted by myself while i was in London. Unfortunately Some IDIOT tagged over it and took away the wonderfull appeal it have!
But here it is in all its Glory.
And here is the Irony. Places like Cargo should get their act together and put Perspex over these walls. Why? Because my 8ft x 8ft version of this piece of Alice on panel sold for around $30 000 US to a private buyer. Therefor this 30ft x 10ft piece would have been worth a lot more... But it got tagged, as it was not protected.ROCKY, Get your shit together dude!

See here for th efirst ever graffiti designer QR code. Sure Banksy put a sticker on one of his paintings in 2008n- but it was not a stencil code. Also Space invader has been doing mosaic designer QR codes - the first mosaic designer QR codes since 2007, but they are not painted either. SO here is the first ever stenciled - proper, in the street guerilla marketing QR code , for people to download to their phone and go to my website. It goes here :

Skinni Pants Launch : To Tag oR Not To Tag
Skinni Pants based in Tokyo is an attitude declared, full frontal means to realize and express. Recognizing the power of the GRAPHIC, we provide the opportunity to engage. From deep in the house, we present a template fresh and unique. This kinetic aesthetic is a customized technique where clothing and art unite to impress. Its easy. Skinni Pants catalogue of designs are print ready or create your own personal style. Its so simple. Pick out the gear, choose it or imagine it, we take it and press it. Smiles all round!
I will be creating a user experience installation, combining art , graphics, graffiti and tagging, Entitled ToTag Or Not To Tag.
These are test stills from the installation that i will be doing at the Skinni Pants Launch party. Basically anyone will be able to come up and tag there name or whatever they want, on my Ipad or their Iphone using software called Grafanalysis - which will then go to the website 000000book, then bounce back to my computer and get projected onto the wall - all live and direct. Come and see it for your self - To Tag or Not To Tag, that is the question.

GRAFFITI JAPAN on Tokyo Japan Times
Before Drainspotting, I photographed Graffiti Japan, which was my first book published by Mark Batty Publisher New York. It is a study of Graffiti art and Artists from around Japan. Japan has long been a breeding ground for innovative approaches to Western traditions. But, the fanatical embrace with which Japanese artists have welcomed graffiti has made for a form of graffiti wholly apart from its Western origins. Graffiti Japan captures the culturally unique aspects of Japanese street art, providing a most complete look at Japan’s contemporary graffiti scene up until 2009.
I could never have guessed that this first, on-a-whim trip to Japan would result to me moving to Tokyo and befriending the scene’s most prolific and talented artists. The more time I spent with them traveling from city to city, meeting local luminaries, the more photographs I took, the more excited the artists became about helping me delve deeper.
Interviews with KRESS, BELX2, FATE, TENGA, EMAR, SUIKO, QP,SHIZENTOMOTEL, PHIL and many more reveal how these artists define their work as specifically Japanese, musing on everything from replicating the calligraphic intricacies of the Japanese language with spray paint, to foreign influences and national pride. Every single photograph in Graffiti Japan was shot in Japan, featuring anime and manga characters, kanji, sprawling legal murals and illegal hidden spots, all of which comprise this spectacular scene that could not exist in any other country.
You can find the book on Amazon and check out the websites and blogs here.
Graffiti Japan will be coming to IPAD soon.
